Hunter 2 10lb, 29" FLUKE Sept 17,2012 NJSWF
« on: September 18, 2012, 10:28:37 AM »
Jersey Joe and I pulled out of Keyport at 3 pm at low tide to a light south wind and a clear sky. water temp was 70 deg. I pointed the boat south and around sandy hook towards Ambrose channel to some rocky structure. The drift was fast changing between 1.8 and 2.6 mph with the south winds increasing. Short fluke and sea robbins were coming up along with a cocktail blue. Joe put a 19" keeper fluke in the box. I had a white 6oz Bucktail with a teaser above rigged with a pink plastic squid, pink bucktail hair and 7" pink gulp belly strip mounted on a light Star plasma rod with a Shimano corvalus 300 reel. I got a big hit and started reeling in. It felt like either a huge fluke or a big skate. The fish was taking drag and did not want to surface. Joe got the net ready and when we saw the fluke we both said Holy SH!T! cfzd   Joe took a net shot but the fluke saw it and dove down again. I got it to the surface again and Joe got it in the net and over the side. I few high fives and hollers later it weighed slightly over 10lbs on the boga grip and measured 29"s. My personal best fluke that we got in the boat.. Joe and I celebrated and stayed hydrated when we got back to the marina chrz
Im packing today for a 5 day Salmon trip leaving tomorrow to lake Ontario "Salmon River" with Rick,Kenny and pawle Paule
   Good Luck, Eddie
