Question about bag limits
« on: September 29, 2012, 04:03:01 PM »
at what age does a bag limit come in play.  If I am fishing with my 7 year old daughter, does she also get a 5 Fluke bag limit as I would.  How about my 6 year old son.. etc.. etc.. etc...

That's how I understand. Count the Capt, mate, the wife and kids.
Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife sells all of my fishing tackle for what she thinks I paid for it!

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

So, as long as i have my 3 kids with me, I would be able to keep a bag limit for each if them, even though next season they will be 7,6 and 4?   That is nice to know come Striper time.  Lol

 thud  AGAIN

Heres the way it is:

1-under 16 can get bonus tag---CID #  is issued at that time--this is your lifetime ID #
2-If you register a 1 year old  THE CO will determine if the 1 year old caught the bass  nosmly
3-The cid # you can use to register for saltwater in the future
4-16 and under DO NOT have to do the saltwater registry  for the bonus tag.
5-Charter and Party boats DO NOT have the tags for you-stopped in june-2012--if on a charter or party--have your own if you NEED to keep 3 bass.
6-IT is 1 bonus tag per day--you CANNOT get another bonus tag if you DO NOT report your last one being used.

correct if wrong...but isn't the limit per person...not per boat?  i.e. if I'm fluking with my father and son on my boat this past year its 5 fluke each...not 15 for the boat.

Yes and No.. If I am fishing with my uncle, and get boated, as long as we have no more then 10 fluke, we are OK.  It doesn't matter if I caught 9 and my uncle caught 1, if you get boated.  They don't know who caught what and how many, so the do do a boat bag limit.  Just like if you get caught with a undersized fish, everyone on the boat will get fined for it.

Go on 4 person charter boat.  Including the captain and mate, your allowed the boat bag limit of 6 people.

Yep! Read some of the Capt reports on here and you'll often read 'boat  limits caught'

Yep.  Boat limit.  When we were on Parker Pete, we got 3 more then the charter limit, but less then the boat limit.  The bag limit is per person, but on a boat, it's difficult to prove, so they just check the boat limit.

I didn't know there were 'boat' limits re: charters and person limits, I thought no matter what you as a individual had to follow the rules no matter where or should I say what you are fishing on. I don't get it.... but not worried because as mentioned I HAVE NEVER NOR WILL I EVER LIMIT OUT   rgmn rgmn  rofla rofla

You're correct Trish and anyone else who says there is not a 'boat' limit but only an 'individual' limit.

OK.. lets say your are the Patrol guy.. You board a boat that has 5 guys on it and 25 fluke, all over limit size.  Where is the problem?  He doesn't ask who caught how many.

On the flip side though, favoring the law, if you board a boat and you have 5 guys and 26 fluke on it, which is 1 more then your so called boat limit, all 5 guys will get fined for that one fish.

It seems fair.

Right, they are one in the same I thought. Doesn't matter who catches them, it matters how many are kept to how many people are on the boat.    clp
