NJ Fishing & Boating Weather Outlook: Weekend Edition Oct 6-7, 201

Going into the first weekend of October, will continue with an unsettled weather pattern.  This will bring chances of rain, the greatest being on Sunday.  Temperatures will continue to be above normal for this time of year on Saturday with upper 70’s and even 80’s with lows in the upper 50’s and high humidity in the 80%-90% range.  This will all change after the cold front moves through, dropping temperatures into the 60’s and 40’s overnight.  The front will also bring drier air, returning humidity back to seasonal norms.  Water conditions will be good for the most part.  Winds could gust to 20 knots Saturday evening, building seas to 4+ feet and then again Sunday evening for inshore, midshore and offshore waters.  Wind and seas should remain below Small Craft Advisory criteria.  Surf conditions will be normal with wave heights 1-2 feet all weekend.

A cold front will sweep through on Saturday and slow its eastward progression.  A Low Pressure system will form along the front and continue moving northeast into the region on Sunday.  High pressure will then build in behind the front later Sunday into the beginning of the week.

The cold front coming through has stalled a bit out over the Ohio Valley and Pennsylvania.  Today will be sunny to mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70's.  Rain won't start until later tonight and continue into Sunday.  Sunday will have heavy rains and they will continue through the night.  After the front gets through, temperatures will be down into the 50's.  Highs for Sunday won't get much out of the lower 50's with overnight temperatures in the low 40's!
