Irish Ayes 10/11/12
« on: October 11, 2012, 09:28:58 PM »
Fished with Capt Joe, Bob G and Jim today.  It was supposed to be a sea bass trip (at least that's what I was told). ::) ;)

The wind was really honking when we got out there, but calmed down to almost nothing by early afternoon.  The sea bass were scarce.  We did manage to catch a few shorts, many spike weakfish (a good sign), a croaker  and some snappers.

We also had some huge chopper blues that were eager to give us a fight.  I caught one of the gators  on one of Chris L's homemade poppers.  I pulled it off after that so it didn't get mangled any more than it did on that fish.  It had some great action to it, even in a rough sea.  Nice job on that plug Chris and I thank you for it. t^  Joe has a picture of it in the bluefish's jaws.  Hopefully he'll post it up after the Steeler's game. ;D

Although, we came home with an empty cooler (we didn't keep any of the just legal weakies) It was a fun day for me to just get out with the boys and to tangle with some of those big bluefish.  Thanks for the trip Joe! t^

Even though it wasnt the trip you planned, sounds like you had a nice variety of action.

Glad it produced for you Bob.   TT^

Oh well, the Steeler's played as bad as the fishing was for us today.  :P

Here's a not too good of a pic from my cell phone of Bob's blue on Chris's plug. Some sweet action on that thing.  t^

Ahhhhhhhhh ok...neat!!! One more thing I learned here....I LOVE IT! So when I catch a short weekie, I call it a spiked week??? Just like that? The only time we use 'short' is for Fluke? Nah, cant be, I use that all the time... unfortunally more that I wished this year...  cfzd rofla
