Irish Ayes Jigging 10/24/12
« on: October 24, 2012, 10:52:55 PM »
Headed out into sloppy seas with Capt Joe today to target stripers.  Joining us were Jim and Tom.  We stopped on some bird action right outside Shark River Inlet but couldn't get bit.  Tries a few other spots before we broke out the trolling gear.  We trolled up a couple of big blues and a short bass before heading north.

The seas laid down and the trolling rods never got used for the rest of the day, as we found fairly consistent action on jigs.  We had stripers up to about 25 lbs and a lot of big bluefish. (Jim's favorite ;D).  Tom had the jigging action down and landed his first stripers ever! clp

Another great day on the Irish Ayes!  Thanks Joe. t^

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

It was a slow start. With the conditions and the lack of activity at the start I was a little pessimistic about the catching. Thankfully that changed with the tide.

Although not swamped with stripers we did have enough to make every one happy.

After returning to port we were all invited to Jim's buddy's restaurant for a meal of fresh caught striper. Unfortunately, Bucktail had to decline.

Today's catch:
