What Exactly Does This Mean?
« on: October 27, 2012, 11:37:53 PM »
"Beginning at 11pm Sunday October 28th, all vehicular traffic within the township shall be limited to essential personnel and emergency vehicle traffic only."

Taken in the context of this statement, exactly who qualifies as "essential personnel"?  Is there a legal definition or is this some ambiguous mumbo jumbo that a police officer (or judge) can interpret however they see fit?

The reason I ask is that my job is requiring me to be on call in case something happens at the store, i.e. power failure, storm damage, break in, etc.  If I do get the call telling me to show up at the store at 3:00am would I be in violation? :headscra:

Technically yes  essential personnel consists of emergency rescue, cert, police, doctors nurses etc. Anyone deemed essential personnel usually dons a plaque of sorts stating the in the means of a State of Emergency they are essential. Which pretty much is crap.

Bob, if you do 'get the call'. Make a SAFE effort to arrive at work. If that can not be done, so be it, you made the effort. No material object is worth putting yourself in danger.

You need to take a class and get a permit from the state that allows you on the road in "state of emergancy" conditions.  I actually have my permit.

Bob, if there is an emergency at the store like a wall down and all of the merchandise is blowing around outside in the lot, let me know. ;D

Unfortunately, I'm considered "Essential Personnel" in case we have to evacuate anyone. I'm required to report to work regardless, rgmn as long as I can make it in for my shift. All we have to do is show our ID card to the police if there is a problem. I really can't see a police officer pulling you over, getting out of his car, and coming to your window for your credentials in 80 mph wind and rain. If you get stuck, or have a problem, then it might be a different story. If I were you, I would say the road is flooded/blocked by down trees, and stay home with your wife and daughter.

Here is some official info on the subject:

Thanks guys.  Good info there.  t^

Darren that link was very helpful.  Although, it really doesn't spell out a penalty for defying the ban.  :headscra:
