9/8 Report Fluke, Sea Bass, Stripers and Blues
« on: September 09, 2007, 07:16:37 AM »
Set out today for a Fluke/Sea Bass combo with the Applied Air Charter from Fanwood, NJ.

On board was Fred, Bob and Rudy....weather was perfect. Started the day working the last three sets of markers in the Sandy Hook channel, many, many Birds, 1 keeper Fluke and several Fat 16 1/2 throw backs, 1 5 lb Blue.

Ran down to the Shrewsbury Rocks for some Sea Bass, picked up several Sea bass to 4 lbs, dozens of just misses thrown back and more keeper Fluke. Wind kicked up out of the south and was making it really sloppy.

Headed back north to go home and stopped at a nice hole near the Highlands bride, boated another keeper Fluke, Blues to 10 lbs and Stripers to 25".

No great bite today but a steady pick of fish, stayed out a bite longer for the boys as they were having a blast.

So they had gone home happy each bringing home Fluke, Sea bass, and Blue Fillets....a couple more inches and we would of had striper also.

All in all a good day of fishing with some great guys.........thats what it is all about TT^

Capt Allen,

It was both, Blues were at the Rocks but not breaking water and no birds.

From the Sandy Hook Channel to the Highlands bridge a lot of Busting Blues with birds on them but also tons of readings that were mid to bottom of the water column.......

They were so thick we couldn't keep them off the Fluke rigs.  We have been jigging and Plugging when they are up with equal success.

Good job Capt Bob and good report and nice assortment of fish.
It's a shame the fluke season will end on Monday.  It's just getting good for the big fish.
