Capt Don. And The Navesink River

Just got off the phone with Capt. Don. and he was explaining to me the time they had with his Bosses 60' hatteras..  They rode it out on the river. There were 8 to 10 foot waves.. 12 Lines on the boat all as tight as they could be..

The image was taken when they decided it was time to leave the boat.. In the end when the tide and wind receded.. there were 3 lines left on the boat and she stayed centered in her slip..  thud

Great Job Don and Kyle....Keeping that rig afloat was some serious business....we were constantly on the phone throughout the storm checking in on one another.....if something like this ever happens again..
And god i pray it never ever does.....i will be tying off with you guys!

Normally I wouldn't recommend doing it! There was  really nothing else we could do at the time... If anyone ever gets in that position which I hope we never see again! Most important is human life and not property everything can be fixed and usually better than before.

First picture was in the Navesink River where there were boats everywhere also boats sunk in the channel which is going to make very hard to navigate our way out. The rest is in Atlantic Highlands Marina where we tie up very sad hope they'll be back up in running by next summer...

The Gina Lisa a Jim Smith 75'  that caught the 930lb Bluefin was tied up in Great Kills, Staten Island with 24 lines. It Survived the  storm with only one line left holding it in place. I went there on Saturday and the harbor is some mess. I've heard on the news that Staten Island suffered the worst in New York from the storm.

Yeah heard Dan made it and they had it bad as well thank god nobody got hurt! He's goig to have the same trouble as us getting out safe wish everyone luck getting back to Fla. safe!
