Oh no.... gosh how terrible. I don't know what to expect when I'm back on the road with work, but in my travels I can make a 'few wrong turns' and try. Keep us posted Rod... I will keep my fingers and toes crossed...I can only imagine how that family feels.

Does anyone know what the salvage laws are? I wonder IF anyone is out there collecting boats or taking them for their own keeping to just later say they salvaged them so, they are their own now.

I would hate to think that is legal but, I can see people trying it.

I heard from some others from AHMM that the salvage company is charging $100 a foot for the boats in the parking lots, just to put them back up on blocks.  Not sure if you need a license to become an official "salvager".

they can not price gouge. If they do, report them to consumer affairs. $10,000.00 first offense. $20,000.00 second. They are not allowed to raise their price more than 10% for 30 days during a state of emergency.or something like that.

Salvage Rights  5hrug But Boats as Motor vehicles Are Licensed and registered. Ownership has to be transferred. Like you can not just take over ownership or dispose of one with out transfer of ownership.I very good friend of mine took over Ricks Marina Forked River many years ago and there were boats left abandoned that he had to Gain Title to in Court before he could dispose of them. He has since Passed but his wife and son Now run it. Great people.  Finders keepers  nosmly nosmly nosmly Bill

Got A text from Big Al today..  clp

Pulled this off Facebook from George t^
OK I have good news!! A friend of mine found the boat in a pile in the back of Atlantic Highlands. After a half hour heated discussion with the a__hole from Boat US who was adament that he had salvage rights on my boat to the tune of $2500 and using all of my diplomacy (LOL) that he could go f _ _ k himself and his $2500, the Keep 'n It Reel is now in Keyport for evaluation and insurance adjustment. There is some engine damage, hull damage, trailer damage etc etc etc but the rest will be up to the insurance company. At least i know where she is and I have some peace of mind whatever the outcome.

Also, a huge thank you to whoever spotted me on route 36 just leaving the highlands and sending the picture out to Rod to contact me. It's great to see and know that fellow fisherman and boaters are looking out for each other. Awesome job and again a big thank you to him and everyone who helped and tried to help to locate her after the storm.

Very Cool t^  At the least... It must be good to have her back in your hands t^

if they raised the boat and put it back on the trailer, then I would say he's owed money.  Anyone whose boat is piled up in the marina is going to end up paying for that service or I would hope their insurance would cover it.  But if it was just sitting there on the trailer as you left (maybe in a different place or more damaged) it no one should owe anything to the salvage company so long as it is not in danger of causing more damage to other property.  Even then if it's on the trailer, it shouldn't cost anything.  Not like it's that hard to move

clp As I told Rod via text, I was behind the boat at the light and was staring at it saying'" man that guy did a horrible job getting that boat on the trailer." When i got next to it I was just thinking what a shame real nice boat all banged up then after a minute it dawned on me that it was the boat Rod posted about. So I took a picture of it and the guy driving the truck saw me and kind of gave me a  >:( look so i sped up in front of him hoping hed notice the Njswf sticker on my truck and he did.  t^ pretty cool. Rod if you talk to him tell him it was my pleasure t^
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
