Accessible Beaches for Surfcasting Right now?
« on: November 10, 2012, 11:17:05 AM »
Hey everyone, just wondering where anyone has had any luck going striper fishing from the surf lately and where you've gone. There's so much damage from the storm that I'm not able to get to some of my favorite spots. Thank you very much in advance for any info.

Don't mean to be rude but so many people need so much help right now. Offer to help remove flooded items, clean up. Right now so much to do to get these people back on some kind of track. Fishing can wait.

Right now you can't even get to the beaches in the Toms River Area because there is no access to the barrier islands.  Right now I am calling the season finished at least on my end.  If they open up the area to the public again maybe but for now it is not going to happen.

No, not at all, that did not come off as rude. It is very important to be reaching out right now. My mom's family grew up on the water in Ship Bottom and I can't even imagine how painful it would be to see her old home in pieces. It's just such a shame and a shocker that a storm like that hit us. Surfcasting is probably done for the near future, and more help is needed with the storm recovery. I might go out on a party boat now and then just for some fun fishing.

LBIfisherman here's tbj's $0.02:

yes, the devastation is of epic porpotions. yes, people need help. I have personally help in my personal time too...but if you have the itch to fish go fish. You'll feel better. Help where and when you can. Many shelters etc are overstocked with supplies. Volunteers are now needed for the rebuild i.e. construction / demo workers etc. back to your original question.

Deal down to Asbury OPEN

I think we need to remember this is a fishing forum.  LBI is new here and asked a fishing question.  We have no idea what else he's done to help or what he's lost and it's really not our place to question it or tell him what to do.  Just my 2 cents.

LBI-Welcome aboard first of all!  As I'm sure you've gathered there's not many places accessible by shorelines.  There are party boats and charters still running right now, as well as private boats all over out on the water so don't feel bad that you're looking to fish.  Many people already are.  In fact this place needs some fishing reports badly so please get out there, catch some fish, and come on back here and post us up a report!   t^

So basically after "critiquing" me. You "tell" him the same thing I said...oh vey

I'll leave my experience, knowledge and connections in the surfcasting community to myself instead of sharing them here then. My bad.

Sorry Rod nothing personal against you bud.

Wasn't critiquing you bud, wasn't really referring to you at all.

WOW!  cfzd

Welcome aboard LBI!

Come on guys! We ARE here for fishing and need to talk fishing. I agree with Mike and Rod. Let's get out there and fish. We need to welcome new members not isolate them.

As a side note I didn't think Mike's comment was derogatory to TJB. I think both made good points.

We need to lower our cackles and remember why we are here.

Good luck all!
