Seabass time now ?
« on: September 10, 2007, 08:10:20 PM »
It is time to go out and catch seabass ? Shrewsbury rocks still the hotspot ? When does the season for seabass end ? AND, theres no way to catch keeper seabass off the surf or anything anywhere right ? I have to hit the rocks, wrecks, reefs, etc for them. Thanks all.

yep fishon.. this type of fish you can't do from the surf...  maybe get some off the jetties...  but a good bottom structure is key.

I know, it sucks now... tooooo much down time until the striper run.  I wish the fluke season started later so it can end later... in the beginning of the fluke season, you were still able to target the spring stripers with a gap inbetween the 2 seasons... now we have to wait.

im not sure if it makes a difference, but if you want action, I THINK YOU CAN STILL CATCH AND RELEASE FLUKE.  If so, it will keep you up on your fluking skills, the only problem is, they all have to go back in the wash... Hey, the professional fresh water fisherman do it all the time with the bass.. RIGHT..  Fishing is a sport for most, so you don't have to hit a homerun all the time...  and just because the season is over, doens't mean you cant practice..  ;D until next season.. your rod is still in your hand, the ocean is still the same as it was yesterday, the only difference is... you can't put them in your cooler..

Yeah flukeon.  Imagine tossing back a 10+ pounder.
They are out there and will be there for a while.

Now that seabass will be targeted, watch what they do with the regs for them.

its illegal to have possession of fluke, but i don't think they can stop them from biting your hook.

You can't target fluke once the season closes (goes for any species that has a season).

Of course if you catch a fluke incidentally thats OK but it must be released.

Ok, not that I would of course. What would happen if caught keeping a fluke out of season ?
