Okuma V System Spinning Reel Review by Alan Hawk
« on: November 15, 2012, 12:17:38 AM »
An interesting review of the Okuma V System reel by Alan Hawk.  Most of my experiences with Okuma spinners have been less than positive.  So, I personally have no plans to purchase one, either now or in the near future.  This review only reinforces my poor opinion of them.  Although, after what seems like an all out thrashing of the reel during most of the review, Mr. Hawk says, "...it should still be a contender." :headscra:

This reel sells for $200 retail.  For that money, I would rather pick up a Shimano Spheros 14000FB for $180 and put the $20 I saved towards a nice plug.  But, that's just me. ;D

Enjoy the review. t^

I have a cj80s.  wouldn't trade it for anything.  Only thing I don't really like about it is the screw in handle.  comes loose easily. I've had nothing but good luck with Okuma reels. Haven't been able to kill one of them yet. Never maintained other than a rinse after saltwater use.  Looking at a RawII for my next reel.
