Sinker making

Anybody know where I can but a pot, sinker and jig molds, lead, etc. locally? Don't want to have it shipped.

If you cant get the lead for free or have the things to make it it may be cheaper to buy sinkers. unless you plan on loosing a ton of lead, barlow tackle has everything you would need but its a mail order place. If your looking to have sinkers made and can get lead Id be happy to maqke them up for you providing theres some in my bucket at the end.  t^

When Mac's on Rt 35 in Neptune (near Shark River) reopens you can check there. He has a great selection of molds and several pots, etc. He is presently closed due to damage from Sandy. Don't know when he will reopen.

You can also take BigAl up on his offer. A whole lot easier and less time consuming.  TT^

But like Al said...If your not looking to make a ton of sinkers your better off buddying up with some here...

there is a add in the fisherman magazine bank sinkers 10 cents per oz.  I bought a bunch last year no problem.  732-814-1081

Suffering from " Lead Weight Sticker Shock"  when you went to replace all of the lead you stuck on the bottom yesterday John?  The stuff adds up. I prefer to buy them from low cost from low cost sellers, the same ones who supply some of the tackle shops . I did consider making my own, but aside from the initial outlay for all of the stuff, I was concerned about the toxicity of the fumes from the molten lead. I'l

I lost about 4 lbs on Sunday! And I don't mean off my waist either!  cfzd. I'm going to get into togin'. I like being outdoors all year so I don't mind the weather, I want to fish and the fillets are delicious.
the cost of sinkers is ridiculous, Especially for the flat kind that's best for tog. I can see making them myself....and maybe some jigs too.

John I will say one thing about making the jigs Im not sure if you want to make bucktails or ava types both both require much more than just lead

With the cost of getting set up with the molds of various styles and sizes, the melting pot and the blocks of lead, I can't imagine it's cost effective for most casual anglers.

Actually a lot of the lead i use is old shower pans and seals from cast iron, it does contain some gold just not enough to try and get out

The flat sinkers cost the same to make as the regular bank sinkers so they should sell for the same price. Same amount of lead to make a certain size sinker, just shaped different.

You can try Sam The Sinker Man (201) 368-8751 if you want to purchase already made sinkers. He will even deliver them to you. This is from 2010, don't know his current prices but you can bet it's a lot cheaper than elsewhere.

is there really any advantage of doing this?  I just stock up on Dick's coupons when I'm in FL and use them through out the year for those small things.  on a side note, if you go and buy the least expensive item at Dick's, go home and do the online survey. At the end, you print out a $10off of $50 purchase. It does add up to some good savings and I run through a ton of tackle.
