I've had mine 5 years and they work fine.  I just think its time to change them for piece of mind.

I change mine every three years. My boat has three batteries. So when it was three years old I changed the cranking battery. Then the next year I changed another battery and so on. This way I always have a fresh one on board and don't have to buy all three at the same year. If the cranking battery goes bad while I am out, I can switch it over and get back in.

Interstates are great batteries Think I pushed mine, my boats going on 13 years old and I'm on my 3rd set Thats with pulling them and putting them in the basement in the winter with a charge midway through the off season

3 years depending on usage and brand, the optimas are a little more but the say 5 years

It's for an 08 Jeep Commander, but Optima doesnt have listing for that.  My research shows the 34/78 is the right fit.

I've always wanted an Optima and the truck is 5 years old now.  Might be time to to make the jump.  I have a fear of a dead battery on the beach with an incoming tide.

You don't want to do that with the tide coming in. Been there, done that, got the T shirt. 

Went to Daytona for spring break with a bunch of buddys when I was 17. Parked the LOVE Van on the beach and rented motorcycles for the day. Guess what we found when we went back to van?

I have a single battery and single perks switch. Was thinking about a second battery rather than bringing a jumper box.

Boat had a single 225 outboard, typical electronics, vacu flush head and a couple pumps ( fish box drains, wash downs, live well)

If I go to this set up, I figure a cranking battery and a deep cycle, any input as to the size I should look for, or should I just get the biggest that fits ( boat and budget)

What size can you fit?  Group 24 or 27?

I am going to check, there is not a lot of room, think it has a group 24 in there now.

I run two Optima Blue Tops. Dual purpose, supposedly not that good at anything.

I also am damn cheap, in some ways. I don't mind paying (about) double for one compared to a new Interstate, but I run 'em forever.

Hopefully not jinxing myself. Never had a problem. Regularly ensure that either batt'y alone will start the motor from dead cold. Keep them topped up.

This will be the seventh season on the old one. Yup six years in the boat. The fourth for the "new" one. Resting voltages at 25°F the other day were 12.71 and 12.68. Haven't charged 'em since Oct 25.

I will replace with another blue top when it won't start my boat from cold. Definitely can't use that plan if you run only 1 battery.

Oh and I always stay witin reach of my BoatUS unlimited towing. Haven't needed that yet either. Thanks Randy!
