http://www.ammoland.com/2013/02/legislative-analysis-of-24-pending-nj-gun-control-bills-for-021313-hearing/#axzz2KsI1nGSj

this just scares the crap out of me. thought I would never leave jersey but I may be abondoning ship and moving across river if some of this BS gets passed.  how this reduces crime or protects schools or addresses metal health is beyond me.

Some of them I don't have a problem with, but some are a joke.

If you are willing to carry a gun in NJ and break the law with it. Do you really think you would say to yourself wait I should use a 10 round magazine and not the 15 or wait I can’t use my gun when I break in that house or rob that store with my gun because it’s a weapons free zone. I should not buy that gun off the street because I am not trained. Hey I think is a good thing to be trained before you buy the gun, but the people that want to use them in the wrong way really care?

the best one is the "gun free zones".  We can't carry as a resident as it is now so I am breaking the law the minute I leave my property with ANY type of loaded firearm.  But hey...now they are going to tell the nuts out there "this is a gun free zone".  Correct if wrong but both recent tragedities (colorado/sandy hook) were both "gun free zones".

Word! No need for a permit to buy here. Hell, no permit to even carry open if you wanted.

When the governor is willing to give up his security team, which costs the tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, I will be receptive to LISTENING to some type of new gun laws, I won't vote for any if put on a ballot, but I will LISTEN to the proposals.  I don't think any gun law would make a bit of difference in what they are trying to accomplish.

I am not a gun advocate, but I can't see depriving law abiding citizens their ability to own a firearm.

I'm not a hunter but...my father in law is and has rifles/shotguns that would be banned under this proposed bill.  what's he going to do "rent" one everytime he travels out of state to hunt?

although I can not speak for anyone in particular...I have been writing the governer, my senators, and assemblymen in regards to gun control and asking for there stand. According to written reponses I have received it boils down to democrat vs republican...i think we all know which side is for which. the response from the govener basically avoided the gun control issue altogether and placed mental health and school safety as his priority right now, which is understandable. Senator Menendez basically blew me off with a response that basically stated the majority don't feel the way i do and are pushing for more gun control. I have heard from some assemblymen and that is where the republican/democrat voting comes into play.

Why don’t they just let us vote on it? Then let the people speak, then it is what it is. The problem is they will put things together such as 10 round mag and training or mental health check and semi auto ban.

You really want the people to vote on it Rick? I'd be afraid of the outcome. Just look at how many of our elected officials are do-nothings and get reelected every time. It's  nts  rgmn rgmn rgmn

yep, that is the issue. we will get out voted. the NJ assembly of law & public safety comittee....7 democrats and just 4 republicans. thats how the bills went through.  only chance I think we have is the governer basically performing a veto if these do become law.

look up some info on these bills...the public did get a chance to speak at the Law & Public Safety Committee hearings on these bills. they still went through despite what the public presented. nosmly nosmly nosmly  It basically went into one ear and right out the other.

http://www.philly.com/philly/news/politics/nj/20130213_N_J__gun-control_bills_draw_fire__but_pass_committee.html

here is one of my favorites by Mainor from the article...

Committee Chairman Charles Mainor (D., Hudson) created a stir when he tried to limit testimony preceding the votes. He planned to have the committee vote on all the measures before allowing testimony from the dozens who signed up to speak. Mainor reversed his decision after an outcry from Republican committee members.

More reason to hate politics. I don't really follow much in the way of politics but, I do think it's time to abolish parties and vote for people who believe in what you want not what a color (R vs. D) wants. It is an antiquated and ridiculous system IMHO.  thd

I will just move to Newark where it is easy to purchase guns.  I don't think you need permits and they are very abundant.
