Kill Van Kull 3-22-13
« on: March 22, 2013, 06:02:52 PM »
I've been trying to fish for 3 weeks now and today I finally had a chance. I had class until 11 and after a quick lunch I went to get some sandworms. Unfortunately, they only had bloodworms and after considering for a minute if I wanted to pay almost a dollar per worm I decided to go with it. I get to one of my usual spots that I haven't been to since last summer and find caution tape on it. This is a pier/dock thing that had its floor boards pulled up and pilings laying on their side. I guess this is still left over from Sandy. I set up at another spot but wasn't too happy since it was almost dead low tide when I got there at 12:30. The pier would have put me at least a good couple feet over the water and I wouldn't be casting from shore. Every little bit helps when casting at low tide. Anyway, not a bite the whole time I was there which was only up until about 2:10. The weather was okay. It was nice and warm when the sun was out and not windy, but pretty cold when the sun was hiding and the wind was blowing. With almost a full box of worms left I plan on hopefully going out sometime on either Saturday or Sunday. It felt good to be out today, now I just gotta catch a fish.

umm whenever I get a new picture of me and a fish. I almost always fish alone so it's kinda hard. I was actually hoping I could catch something today since I had someone with me to snap a pic but no.

Nice to hear you got out and gave it a shot. I think if the weather stays Sunny and the temps increase you will start seeing fish caught.
Those fish love worms.I'll fish a 8ft to 9 ft. pole with 15 -20lb mono with up to 4 to 5 oz lead . Any thing heavier and its time to go home and do something else...
Good Luck.
