New to the area!! Got my licensing done and ready to go!!!
« on: April 22, 2013, 05:06:41 PM »
Moved here from FL and trying to start my summer off RIGHT!!   Picked up the new NATIVE 'SLAYER 14.5', can't wait to get out on that freezing water we have up here.    Any launch sites that anyone could recommend a fellow paddler would be greatly appreciated!!!   Good luck! and safe paddles!

What freezing water? Heck, the water is tepid now.  ;D

Seriously, welcome to the site and to the State of New Jersey. Guys in the know about yak fishing will be answering your questions no doubt.  t^

I find some good NJ kayak fishing both fresh and salt info on the above link.  Between this site and that one they should answer your questions.
I am new to salt water kayak fishing and am still researching some salt water launch sites too. Mostly in area of Raritan Bay.

Thanks guys!!   I definitely feel the connection amongst kayaking anglers.  I was approached by a fellow angler while transporting my boat and was given some pointers just yesterday.

Here's one from me to you guys; if you have an iPhone or Android, download the app 'ACK' it has launch sites that are current and accurate.   Finally tried it out this passed weekend and its definitely on point!

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Welcome to the show bro. Fishing is just starting to pick up nicely right now. The storm took a lot of debris, so if you fish off the bottom, bring extra hooks and sinkers.

Welcome. What areas are you looking to fish? The stripers are hitting pretty good right now on clamms in Raritan Bay...

I've been researching the Raritan bay/ sandy hook area, it seems to look and feel promising.   But I've yet to launch from there.  Probably going out tomorrow.

Great place to fish from the yak because you don't need to go out very far.....The shallow water and mud flats will heat up fast and helps warm the water for better fishing.

I would fish 2 rods....One with chunk bunker or clam.....The other to throw plugs....

Looking like a great day to be on the water up in the bay......Happy fishing and be safe.

Awesome! Thanks for the Tips "Kayak-1"  I actually got hung up with work and was not able to go out last weekend.  But I'll definitely be going out this weekend.   Thanks again!

This weekend I would fish the Belford area with the kayak......Again when fishing 2 rods I would stay with Bunker Chunk.......The Bass seem to have started feeding on Bunker.....The other rod throw some large plugs in white or yellow.

Good Luck
