What worked for me was a triple hook set up with the weight at the bottom, high low rig.  NOW, you will lose alot of rigs,  my suggestion is, use a very light line that holds the weight, this way if you get snagged, the weak link of the line will snap first, weak link being the line that is attached to the weight.... you will still have your rig, only lose the weight... My next suggestion is, don't use lead... it will get expensive when you loose them on the rock... so, use any scrap metal to weight it down, like old bults, etc...

Is the spacing between the droppers important?

very, if you picture your line going down with 2 or 3 hooks, then the weight below that very light line... this will snap first...

Is the spacing between the droppers important?

You want enough space between the droppers so the hooks do not tangle on each other.  The length of the leader you attach to the droppers is more critical than the spacing between the drops.

I usually put 12-18 inches between the dropper loops and attach hooks snelled to short leaders to the droppers.

hooks on very, very short leader off the main line... only about 5".. then drop down about 5" and put another hook as leader 5" long.  All 3 hooks should have a 5" leader and also space about 5" apart, then at the very bottom, and loop for the weights.  When you Seabassing, the more hooks you put, the better chances you will have hooking up.  Also, the hooks on this rig will not get snagged, they are off the bottom.  The only thing that will get snagged is the drop loop with the weight on it... if you put a lighter line that holds the weight, that will be the first thing to break on a snag... You lose the weight, but keep your rig.
