5/11 Seaside Surf Fishing
« on: May 11, 2013, 10:44:55 AM »
At the camper for the weekend and shot over to the surf in Seaside early this AM. Stopped and bought a dozen clams and decided to fish  south of the bathing beaches. Threw some clams in and made several casts with a pencil popper for a couple hours. Landed one skate on the bait thd. Saved a few to head back over tomorrow for a quick AM trip. Probably hit further south outside of IBSP entrance.

Good effort.  Make sure your using smaller baits this time of year as the bass are lazy and until the water begins to warm up a bit more their systems are still in winter mode and their digestive systems are running slower. Even with the bunker try using smaller strips, just saying.

With the cuts in the bars starting to show up more and more not things are getting more interesting.  Just look for the cut and allow your wait to walk slowly into a trough and hang on.  I have noticed that this year there are more fish on the bite but they are smaller as the bigger cows are not really here yet.  Maybe this week we will begin to see some bigger fish being caught on a steady basis.

Happy Catching
