Surf fishing around Sea Isle and Ocean City
« on: May 31, 2013, 10:01:03 AM »
I plan on using some 4inch gulp alive's grubs in the surf with a 9 foot rod and reel it in slowly and bounce it off the bottom.  Is 1 ounce jig head enough?  I read good reviews on the gulp baits.  Are they all true?  I usually use squid strips but they seem to only attract skates and very small sand sharks.  I've tried blood worms but never had any luck with those.

Any other suggestions on bait are welcome.

Thanks

I only found that the gulp baits effective in running water, like an inlet for most of the time.  I would stick to clams or cut bunker this time of year.  If you look at most of the fish being caught now it is on bunker or clams.  Check out some of the B&T's fishing reports and you will see this first hand.

Good Luck
