6/6 A Whale of a Day!
« on: June 06, 2013, 05:30:27 PM »
I couldn't find any takers for a trip today so, I went solo. It was just what the doctor ordered. It was fantastic to be out and not have the pressure of getting on the fish for anyone.

My plan was to heat out to the reef and look for flatties and biscuits however, when I turned right out of my inlet it was nothing but bunker and no boats. I quickly swithched gear and snagged and live lined bunker. The machine read some fish amongst them but, there was no real bite. I stayed along the beach and jumped from school to school. I had a runoff or two and some other harassment but, never came tight. I didn't care it was fun just being out. I did manage enough bunker for the crab pots and chunking for sharks.

With the winds picking up and knowing that the wife would be home from work early I headed back to the inlet. As I was approaching the inlet I saw a large splash, thinking that I just saw what could be a boating accident I turned towards the area. As I scanned the area looking for debris I nearly s#%# myself when a humpback breached right in front of me  cfzd cfzd cfzd I put the boat in neutral, kept my distance and watched as this beautiful creature continued to breach, twist, lay on its side and raise its fins and slap the water.

What a great day for sure.
