An unsettled weather pattern will continue into the weekend.  Showers and thunderstorms are possible on Saturday and Sunday.  Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely on Saturday with more widespread showers or thunderstorms on Sunday.  Some of these storms could be strong or even severe with damaging winds, hail, dangerous lightning and heavy rains.  Any rains, especially heavy rains could cause flooding conditions.  High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80's inland and north with upper 70's to low 80's for eastern parts of the state.  Lows again only down into the low 70's at night.  Water conditions will really vary locally and by location.  While some areas may be good, others may not.  With A tightening pressure gradient off the coast and a southwesterly flow windy conditions will continue through the weekend with a building swell.  Inshore SW winds will average 10-15 knots with gusts 20-25 knots and seas 4-6 feet at 8 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore will definitely be cautious with SW/SSW winds 15-20 knots with gusts to 25+ knots and seas 8-10 feet at 9 seconds.  Water temperatures are holding pretty steady.  Rivers and bays are still in the lower to mid 70's.  Inshore ocean waters are mid to upper 60's pushing the 70 degree mark and Midshore to Offshore are upper 60's pushing up into the low 70's.  Surf and beach conditions will be elevated and moderate this weekend.  There will be a Moderate Risk of rip currents most likely all weekend with higher, rougher surf.  SW winds to 15 knots with higher gusts will help keep wave heights around 3-5 feet and an increased southerly swell.  UV Index will be Very High both days.  If you are on the beach keep alert for any developing thunderstorms.  The beach is not the place to be caught in a thunderstorm!

A strengthening area of Low Pressure will lift north into Canada on Friday.  The associated cold front will stall near the coast into the weekend as an upper level low moves over the Midwest.

Next week looks like a repeat of this week.  Maybe more settled, but hot, humid and wet with chances of rain and thunderstorms all week.  Temperatures back into the mid to upper 80's and lows in the upper 60's to 70's.  Inshore water conditions could continue to be windy with elevated seas through the week, especially through the midweek.  Midshore to Offshore conditions are looking cautious most of the week before subsiding.  Surf and Beach conditions will be Normal to Moderate.

Rain fell this morning across some areas of the state. These showers will continue to clear out this morning.  Areas not experiencing rain woke up to cloudy skies.  These will also clear out by later this morning making way for some partly sunny skies during the day and mostly cloudy skies tonight.  Hazy, hot and humid day with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible all day today with a 40% chance statewide.  Overall today will be dry with high temperatures inland in the mid to upper 80's with temperatures along/on the water in the low 80's.  Overnight lows only down into the upper 60's to low 70's with some northern areas seeing low to mid 60's.

Water conditions are looking cautious all day today with continued Small Craft Advisory for all NJ coastal ocean waters in effect through tonight. Small Craft Advisory for Hazardous Seas is in effect for all NY ocean waters which includes areas from Sandy Hook east.  Winds will be gusty again and seas elevated.  Raritan Bay will have SW winds 5-10 knots increasing to 10-15 knots in the afternoon and changing to the south tonight and diminishing to 5-10 knots with seas 1-2 feet.  Visibility tonight could be decreased to 1-3 nm.  Barnegat Bay will have WSW winds 7-10 knots changing to SSW 6-9 knots tonight with seas 1-2 feet increasing to 2 feet tonight.  Delaware Bay will have S winds 5-10 knots with seas 1-2 feet increasing to 2-3 feet tonight.  Inshore waters will have WSW winds 10-15 knots changing to the S 10-15 knots tonight with seas 4-6  feet at 9 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore waters will have WSW winds 12-16 knots changing to SSW 15-20 knots tonight with seas 6-8 feet at 9 seconds.

Surf and beach conditions this morning are moderate.  Winds are calm right now out of the W/SW at 5 mph with wave heights 2-3 feet and some rougher surf.  These will increase today with SW winds to 10 mph and wave heights around 4 feet with rough surf and a Moderate Risk for rip currents.  Be careful in the water today!!  UV Index Very High at 9/10.

Tomorrow is not looking any better for weather or water conditions.  Tomorrow will have greater chances of more widespread to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms, temperatures about the same and water conditions still cautious with some gustier winds and higher seas.  Surf conditions will also be about the same as today.

Have a great weekend!

So far mostly cloudy across the state with sun peeking through at times.  Some patchy fog along/on the water.  Another hazy, hot and humid day before any rain moves in.  High temperatures will only be around the low 80's across most of the state with areas in interior/Western NJ reaching mid 80's.  Lows tonight in the upper 60's to low 70's.  Clouds will continue to build and move in from the southwest bring showers and thunderstorms today.  These will be start off scattered and then become more widely scattered/widespread in the afternoon to overnight hours.  Rain could be heavy at times causing flooding conditions and there is a low risk of severe weather with these storms including damaging winds, hail, dangerous lightning and possible tornadoes.

Water conditions in general will be cautious today with Small Craft Advisories still in effect.  With a continued pressure gradient and strong southerly flow seas could build to 5-6 feet today.  Winds will generally pickup out of the S/SW to 15 knots today in the afternoon.  There may be patchy fog across marine locations through mid morning to early afternoon before clearing out.  Raritan Bay will have S winds 5-10 knots with seas 1 foot or less with visibility this morning and late tonight 1-3 nm.  Barnegat Bay will have S winds 9-12 knots with seas 1 foot or less.  Delaware Bay will have S winds 5-10 knots with seas 2-3 feet.  Inshore waters will see S/SW winds to 15 knots with seas 4-6 feet at 8 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore locations will have SSW winds to 18 knots and seas 7-8 feet at 8-9 seconds.  Remember these are average wave heights and some individual waves could exceed these heights.  Thunderstorms will also bring the potential for much higher winds and seas.

Surf and beach conditions are foggy this morning with an overall calm, 5-10 mph east wind blowing ocean moisture onshore.  Wave heights are normal around 1-2 feet.  Winds will pickup today changing to the S at 10-15 mph making water conditions elevated/rough and dangerous with wave heights increasing to 4-6 feet with a 5 foot south swell.  There is a High Risk of rip currents today with the NWS issuing a Rip Current Statement for all NJ beaches!

Tomorrow looks to be a repeat of today.  I will have the complete Week Outlook later this afternoon.  Have a great day!
