Waiting for an opening in the weather is just a losing proposition, so off we went in the thickening clouds at seven this morning looking for our favorite flatfish. Stopped at the knoll till those clouds chased us South along Sandy Hook down towards Gunnison Beach where Tom picked up a Fluke about 20" long. The Cow-Nosed Rays soon took over as we made a move towards the fleet fishing between the channels. Here we spent the morning with short Fluke, Skates, Sea Robins, Bluefish and more Rays. At the tide change we headed in with a total of five keeper Fluke. Eighteen feet of water seemed like the best depth using strips from the robins and Killies with the occasional Gulp® mullet for bait. A pod of porpoise entertained us for a time. Pete
