Another good week coming up with good weather conditions and good water conditions.  There is not much to right about this week, because right now, not much is happening weather-wise.  Monday will start off with chances of showers and thunderstorms all day with that disturbance moving out overnight.  Tuesday through Friday look dry with no rain in the forecast.  Warmer temperatures will return with some moderate to higher humidity midweek with a southerly flow returning due to high pressure position over the Atlantic.  High temperatures will start out in the low 80's inland with upper 70's along/on the water and overnight lows in the mid to upper 60's with upper 50's in northern areas and higher elevations.  By Tuesday high temperatures will move into the mid to upper 80's and stay there for the rest of the week with low 80's along/on the water and overnight lows ranging from the upper 60 to 70's and low to mid 60's in northern areas and higher elevations.  Dew points will also return to the upper 60's midweek with humid and muggy conditions.  Water conditions are rated good for all locations, all week.  Even the southerly flow will not cause gusty winds or building seas.  The flow will only be moderate and for a short period.  All water temperatures have remained about the same  with bays and rivers in the mid 70's and all ocean waters in the low 70's.  Surf and beach conditions will be good all week with low risks of rip currents right now.  Surf will be calm to normal with wave heights 1-2 feet maybe 3 feet midweek with mostly light winds.

**The models have not updated all day today.  There was some technical issues today, however that has not affected the actual forecasts.  However, this does affect BuoyWeather and any other model generated outputs/forecasts, so if you rely on these outlets for weather conditions and forecasts, please make sure that when you look at them you check the valid date and times on the top.

High pressure will build into the area Sunday Night and dominate through the week.  A upper level disturbance will bring some showers to the area on Monday and Monday Night.  A cold front will approach from the northwest on Thursday moving into the area by the weekend.

The weekend is going to be iffy and something to re-address midweek.  Temperatures will remain the same as this week, maybe slightly cooler.  With an approaching cold front, it could be rainy and windy causing some issues with water conditions.  Surf and beach conditions will be ok, again, with possibly higher risks of rip currents with some rougher, elevated surf.

The tropics are mostly unchanged.  Erin has been downgraded, again, to a tropical depression and will drift southwest.  There is an area of interest off the coast of Africa.  Both of these are just areas to watch right now.  It is too early to tell what and where these storms will go.

Have a great week!

Good morning!  Mostly cloudy this morning with a mix of clouds and sun.  There is a chance of scattered or isolated showers and thunderstorms today through the overnight.  There are some showers already in Eastern PA, Maryland and Delaware that could move into Northern, Western and Southern NJ.  Fog is possible late tonight into Tuesday Morning.  High temperatures today will be in the upper 70's to low 80's with overnight lows in the upper 50's to upper 60's.  Dew points are in the 60's today, so humidity will be moderate and muggy.

Water conditions are rated good today for all locations.  However, seas are still settling and have a short period wind chop still.  Winds will be mainly out of the west today.  Raritan Bay will have southwest winds 5-10 knots changing to the west tonight with seas 1 foot or less.  Barnegat Bay will have west-southwest winds 5-10 knots changing to the west tonight with seas 1 foot or less.  Delaware Bay will have southwest winds 5-10 knots changing to west at 5 knots tonight with seas 1 foot or less becoming 1-2 feet tonight.  Inshore ocean waters will have west/west-northwest winds 6-11 knots becoming west/west-southwest at 7-10 knots with seas 2-3 feet at 6 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore waters will have west winds 7-14 knots with seas 2-4 feet at 6 seconds.

Surf and beach conditions are ok with a Moderate Risk of rip currents.  Winds are southwest at 5-10 mph with some slightly rougher and elevated surf with wave heights 2-3 feet with a 2-4 foot southeast swell at 6 seconds.  Surf temperatures are in the low 70's.  UV Index is Very High at 8/15.

Tropics are quiet again, for now.  With high astronomical lunar tides with the coming full moon, flood levels are approaching minor flooding along the coast at this time, but not yet high enough to issue a Coastal Flood Advisory.

Have a great Monday!

Good afternoon!  A nice day today with a return of Summer from the early Fall conditions we have had the last few days.  Sunny skies and seasonable temperatures across the state today.  Some areas may see some clouds later this evening into the overnight with fog moving in during the early morning hours.  High temperatures today in the mid to upper 80's inland with upper 70's to low 80's along/on the water.  Overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 60's with upper 50's across northern areas and higher elevations.  Dew points will be in the mid 60's today so humidity will be moderate feeling muggy at times.  Winds will be light out of the west becoming southwest.

Water conditions are rated good for all locations with mostly light winds inshore out of the west.  Raritan Bay will have southwest winds 5-10 knots with seas 1 foot or less.  Barnegat Bay will have variable winds around 5 knots changing to south-southwest winds 5-10 knots becoming west-southwest after midnight with seas 1 foot or less.  Delaware Bay will have west winds becoming southwest in the afternoon at 5-10 knots with seas 1 foot or less increasing to 1-2 feet this afternoon.  Inshore ocean waters will have west-northwest winds 5-10 knots changing to west winds at less than 5 knots with seas 1-2 feet at 10 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore waters will have west-northwest winds 7-13 knots becoming west at 2-8 knots with seas 2-3 feet at 9-10 seconds.

Surf and beach conditions are good today with Low Risks of rip currents.  Winds are calm and surf normal with west winds changing to south around 5 mph and wave heights 1-2 feet with a 2 foot southeast swell at 10 seconds.  Surf temperatures are in the low to mid 70's.  UV Index is Very High at 8/15.

Have a great day!!

Good morning!  Hotter and more humid today.  Sunny skies with some clouds mixed in.  Clouds will build in later this evening into the overnight with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms.  High temperatures will be in the upper 80’s inland with some areas possibly seeing 90’s and low 80’s along/on the water.  Overnight lows will be in the 70’s with low 60’s across northern areas and higher elevations.  Dew points will be in the mid to upper 60’s today for most areas making humidity moderate to high during the day and increasing heat indices into the 90’s.  Air Quality Alerts are in effect for all 21 Counties with an Orange Alert.  Orange Alert indicates that air quality is “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups,” or those with pre-existing health issues, children and the elderly.  For more information see Air Now.Gov

Water conditions are rated good today with mainly a western wind shifting to the southwest this afternoon.  Raritan Bay will have west winds at 5 knots changing to south in the afternoon and southwest tonight at 5-10 knots with seas 1 foot or less.  Barnegat Bay will have variable winds less than 5 knots changing to south-southwest at 5-10 knots in the afternoon and southwest tonight  with seas 1 foot or less.  Delaware Bay will have southwest winds 5-10 knots increasing to 10 knots tonight with seas 1-2 feet.  Inshore ocean waters will have west winds 5-12 knots changing to the southwest/west/south-southwest at 5-10 knots this afternoon with seas 1-2 feet at 9-10 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore waters will have west winds 7-13 knots becoming southwest/west-southwest at 5-10 knots in the afternoon with seas 1-2 feet at 9-10 seconds.

Surf and beach conditions are good with Low Risks of rip currents.  Winds are calm this morning with calm surf with wave heights around 1 foot.  Winds will remain around 5 mph out of the west and shifting to the southwest this afternoon with normal surf and wave heights around 2 feet with a 2 foot southeast swell at 9 seconds.  Surf temperatures are in the low to mid 70’s.  UV Index Very High at 8/15.

The cold front that was forecast to cross the region this weekend, has sped up by a couple of days and will move into the area on Thursday and Friday bringing some chances of rain and thunderstorms.  Some storms could be strong to severe.  This will all clear out for the weekend leaving cooler and drier air in place with highs in the upper 70’s and lows into the 50’s again.  Dew points and humidity will be low.  Water and surf and beach conditions look good too, all weekend.

Have a great day!

Good morning!  Mostly cloudy with some scattered showers and thunderstorms across parts of the state.  Other areas are seeing breaks in the clouds and sun.  Clouds will continue today with scattered showers and thunderstorms.  There is a generalized risk for severe weather, so some of these storms could be strong to severe with storms capable of producing damaging winds, frequent lightning and heavy rains.  Thunderstorms will both move in from other areas and pop-up today, so be alert to changing weather!  High temperatures today will be in the mid to upper 80’s with some low 80’s along/on the water.  Overnight lows in the upper 60’s and low 70’s with low 60’s across northern areas and higher elevations.  Dew points will be in the 60’s again, so it will be moderately humid again.

Water conditions are rated good today, however some gusty southwest winds will persist most of the day.  With high pressure moving out into open waters and an approaching cold front from the northwest, winds could increase in excess of 15 knots with higher gusts, but seas look to remain around 2-3 feet.  Raritan Bay will have southwest winds 5-10 knots shifting to the west tonight with seas 1 foot or less.  Barnegat Bay will have southwest winds 5-10 knots shifting to the west in the afternoon with south-southwest winds around 5 knots tonight shifting to the west again after midnight with seas 1 foot or less.  Delaware Bay will have west winds 5-10 knots diminishing to 5 knots tonight with seas 1-2 feet and limited visibility to 1-3 nautical miles tonight.  Inshore ocean waters will have southwest/south-southwest winds 7-12 knots with southern areas shifting to the west-southwest this afternoon with seas 2 feet at 9-13 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore waters will have southwest winds 8-16 knots with seas 2-3 feet at 9-13 seconds.  Remember, marine waters affected by thunderstorms will have increased winds and seas!

Surf and beach are good with Low Risks of rip currents.  Southwest winds will be 5-10 mph, normal surf with wave heights around 2 feet and a 2 foot southeast swell at 11 seconds.  Surf temperatures are in the low 70’s.  UV Index is High at 7/15.

Tomorrow may have some lingering showers and thunderstorms early in the day clearing out by later afternoon.  Highs in the upper 80’s inland with low to mid 80’s along/on the water and across northern areas.  Overnight lows in the low to mid 60’s with low 50’s across northern areas and higher elevations.  Slightly cooler and drier air will be moving so dew points will be in the 50’s and low 60’s, bringing humidity down to more comfortable levels.  The weekend will be dry and sunny with upper 70’s to low 80’s and overnight lows into the 50’s and low 60’s with much drier air.  Water and surf conditions are rated good all weekend with nothing to cause high winds or seas.  The Weekend Outlook will not be done until Friday Morning, as I will be out all day today.  There is nothing big to report in the forecast except nice weather and good water conditions!

Have a great day!!

Good morning!  The cold front that brought rain and thunderstorms yesterday is sitting across the middle of the state.  This front will continue to push south out of the area.  A mix of sun and clouds today and some isolated showers coming to an end.  Some areas, mostly in northern NJ have some patchy fog as well, that will clear out this morning.  The bulk of the remaining clouds will clear out, too, throughout the day making way for more and more sunshine.  No rain in the forecast for today, or the next couple of days.  BUT, with the cold front not pushed through some areas from Central to Southern NJ could see a scattered shower through the afternoon.  High temperatures in the mid to upper 80s with low to mid 60’s overnight and low 50’s across northern areas and higher elevations.  Dew points will remain in the 60’s with moderate humidity today, however it won’t feel as humid as it is this morning as the day heats up.  Some slightly cooler and drier air will move in behind the front later tonight into tomorrow.

Water conditions are rated good for all locations.  Winds are mainly out of the north, varying some for certain areas with some gustier winds today pushing to 15 knots.  Raritan Bay will have northwest winds 5-10 knots increasing to north at 10-15 knots this afternoon before diminishing to the north at 5-10 knots tonight with seas 1 foot or less.  Barnegat Bay will have north winds 9-12 knots diminishing to northeast around 6 knots tonight with seas 1 foot or less.  Delaware Bay will have northwest winds shifting to the north in the afternoon at 10 knots becoming northeast at 5-10 knots tonight with seas 1-2 feet.  Northern inshore ocean waters will have north winds 9-15 knots while southern waters will have north-northwest changing to north-northeast at 10-16 knots with seas 2 feet at 10-11 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore waters will have north/north-northwest winds 10-18 knots with seas 2-3 feet at 10 seconds.

Surf and beach conditions are good with Low Risks of rip currents.  Currently, variable winds and surf are calm.  Winds will be out of the northwest around 10 mph with normal surf, wave heights around 2 feet and a 2 foot southeast swell at 10 seconds.  Surf temperatures are in the low 70’s.  UV Index Moderate at 5/15.

The NHC is watching an area in the northern Gulf of Mexico.  Other than that the tropics are quiet.

Have a great day Friday!  A nice start to a good weekend…
