new to site
« on: September 02, 2013, 04:35:33 PM »
hello all!.

new to the site.  have been on a few days and just wanted to introduce myself.  Mainly fish from the surf with the occasional party boat trip thrown in.  Trying to learn as much as I can on surf fishing for bass/blues.  My fishing partner is my 11 year old son, who recently caught his first fluke from the surf at Sandy Hook.  I couldn't be any prouder.  Seems like a lot of great people with great advice on here!.

Mike

grtn wa where do you normally fish?
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Thanks guys!.  BigAl, we have been fishing sandy hook beach.  Usually the first parking lot to the right when you pull in.  Im sure there are better spots, but thats where we have been.  Me and my son plan on trying Long Branch this friday.  Ive been really trying to do my homework on bass/blues surf fishing, so hopefully it will pay off.

Welcome to the site first of all.  I see you are in Jackson.  Why not try Island Beach State Park.  It has tons of parking lots for walk ons and usually around this time of year fewer people to contend with.

You can even try your luck in the bay from a few spots.  The park has about 10 miles of beach to fish from and for the most part it is all accessible by foot.

Happy Catching

Thanks Paul!, I am definetly gonna give IBSP a try.  You said there are parking lots for walk ons, are there designated marked areas for fishing?, because I heard you cannot fish near swimmers in certain areas.  Thanks again.

I think the bathing areas will be open to fishing as the summer season is over as of Labor Day.  But that is a small area compared to the rest of the park itself.  The total length of the park is close to 10 miles in length.  Fishing is allowed the full length and there are 23 parking areas not counting the large parking lots by the bathing beaches.

Once the bathers leave the bathing beach area they are on their own as the rest of the park is set up for fishing.

Happy Catching
