Pilot - bass busting and tog tackling 11/16
« on: November 17, 2013, 09:18:34 AM »
Crew check... 0500 hrs: DP(aka dogcatcher), Capt D (aka you threw it back in? You Dumb MF), T-bone (aka my hearing sucks!  Huh?).  The usual suspects for the liberalized season start.  A bushel of clam and greenies that have been feed like Henry VIII at an English country manor banquet hall.

Motored in the dark keeping eyes peeled for foreign objects... No Kooz to be spotted (missed you brother).  Stopped where the body of fish have been and had bass thick slamming into the boat.  Envision a swarm of bees disturbed from their hive, one big mass darting, shifting through the water.   Madness begins!  Near every cast buckets gulping, tails slappin, swirls that engulf 5 gallons of sand eels.   1 hour of play time.  A couple of hardware malfunction keeps a few lines out of the action.   Bent rods.  Exhaustion.  Adrenaline takes over.   Catch and release is the lion share.  Short fish and hairline temptations that are returned.  Boxed 4.  Dropped an easy 8, released another dozen.

Lights up, surrounded by fiberglass that maintained a good vigil having the same results.  Time to move on.

Dropped anchor on a piece and laid line to a mark with good precision.  Wind flopped out then shifted every which way making for a tough pick.   Tbone bangs one quick.  A solid 5 lber got us jacked.  Donnie poked em with some regularity.  DP cursed a couple.  Don't Pee the boy off, he'll drop you on the deck!  I struggled on the tog till Don gives me a gift.  Here drop it right here! There's one toying around.  So I shamelessly took the pity fish to get the stink off.   We toughed it out, putting 12 in penalty bin.

A good day with the boys.
