The last weekend of the year will have good and bad points.  Weather will be good on Saturday and wet on Sunday with water conditions a mixed bag depending on when and where.  Saturday will be sunny with clouds increasing throughout the day becoming partly cloudy at night then cloudy into the early morning hours.  Sunday will be cloudy with precipitation moving in.  A coastal low pressure system will move through the area bringing decent amounts of rain, wintry mix and even snow to northern/northwestern areas.  Right now, the coastal low pressure system will not intensify and bring anything more than rain and some gusty winds.  Temperatures will be seasonable to slightly above average with 40’s and 50’s for highs and 20’s and 30’s for lows.  Water conditions vary greatly by day and location.  Inshore waters will be good on Saturday, with conditions deteriorating on Saturday Night and Sunday.  Midshore to Offshore waters will be cautious most of the weekend.  Surf and beach conditions will be good on Saturday and ok to cautious on Sunday.  Water temperatures are about the same to a few degrees warmer, all in the low to mid 40’s with low 50’s offshore.  UV Index will be Low at 0-2/15 both days.

High pressure will build across the region Thursday Night and persist through Saturday.  Then, an area of low pressure is forecast to develop in the Gulf of Mexico and move across the Southeastern States.  It will continue its northeastward progression and emerge over the Mid Atlantic waters near the DELMARVA on Sunday Night.  A cold front behind this low will cross the region on Monday.  High pressure, from the west, is then anticipated to gradually build into the area at the start of the new year.

Next week will start off dry with chances of rain moving in later in the week with average temperatures.  Water conditions look to improve for Monday for everywhere except Offshore and will remain good through the end half of the week.  Surf and beach conditions look good as well.

Enjoy the last weekend of 2013!
