Another unsettled week bringing varied weather and water conditions this week. The week will start with above normal temperatures and dry conditions before rain chances move in for Monday Night through Wednesday Night and a cold front moves in late Tuesday Night bringing temperatures back to normal for mid January. Precipitation looks to be scattered to widely scattered showers with the greatest chances Monday Night and Tuesday Day. Wednesday Night will bring some lingering showers moving out finally for Thursday and staying dry for Friday as well. Some of the precipitation on Tuesday Night and Wednesday could be snow showers across northern areas. Temperatures will start in the upper 40’s to 50’s for the beginning of the week with lows in the upper 30’s and 40’s before returning back to the 30’s and 40’s with lows in the 20’s and 30’s. Water conditions will vary by day and location this week. Small Craft Advisories are likely Monday through Tuesday then Wednesday Afternoon through Friday. These look borderline at this time, so they could go either way. Southern Waters and Midshore to Offshore waters are more likely to experience the higher winds and seas with passing fronts and systems. Surf and beach conditions look good to ok this week. They will echo the water conditions with gusty winds, but wave heights do not look to increase as much. Water temperatures are a degree or two colder, with bays and rivers in the mid to upper 30’s, surf in the upper 30’s to low 40’s, inshore waters in the low 40’s and offshore waters in the low 50’s. UV Index will be low 0-2/15.
High pressure will build across the south of the region Sunday Night and push offshore early on Monday. A low pressure system will move through Eastern Canada on Monday, bringing a cold front into the area on Tuesday. An area of low pressure will develop along the frontal boundary near the Carolina Coast and will move up the Mid-Atlantic Coast on Tuesday. Another area of low pressure will move through the Great Lakes Region late Tuesday, bringing another cold front to the area on Wednesday. Surface high pressure will build across the area late Wednesday and Thursday. Another low pressure system will approach the area at the end of the week.
The weekend looks to be clear and dry with seasonal temperatures. Water conditions may be cautious this weekend with surf and beach conditions ok to cautious.
Have a great week!
