10/14 Sunrise @ Sandy Hook Surfcasting
« on: October 14, 2007, 01:34:59 PM »
I arrived the Fishing Beach at 0700 and got setup.  I had lines in the water by sunrise at 0705.  We saw some fish and birds working some bait two or three times between sunrise and 0900, but that was it.  Nothing but 4 sea robins all day.  I left just before noon.

It was an all artificial day for me:

AVA 27's with and without tubes
Crippled Herring in blue and green
Hopkins with white bucktail
Deadly Dicks 3 oz Long in blue and red
4" Storm Shad in Bunker
Gulp Eels in Rootbeer on a fishfinder rig

Nadda.  Zilch.  Not even a bite.  Not even a bite when casting right to the edge of the small amounts of bait being worked by birds and burnin it back.  Varied retrieve and still nothing.

Oh well... next time!

Somedays you're the bug and somedays you're the windshield.
