The end is near...
« on: February 25, 2014, 12:55:30 PM »
...the fishing apocalypse has come!  cfzd

I purchased a freshwater license and trout stamp  fcp

Figured it'll be the easy way to get the lil guy into fishing as we have a few ponds around closer than the salt.  ovrbt

Now to get him some gear...and for me too. t^

Welcome back Mike.  grtn

I have been getting my freshwater license for a while now.  I will be trying my hand with the kayak on fresh water this year as well.  One of my first places will be Prospertown Lake by Great Adventure.  The lake is back up to full water and has been restocked this past Fall and it will be stocked again this Spring.

It should be a fun year.

Happy Catching

Paul

If you want to avoid a BIG hassle, go with a spincast ;D...speaking from experience!

Ditto! I'd say a spinner is a great way to start anyone out. I'm my opinion, let them get the feel of the basic how too's and once they have that down, you can upgrade to a nice lil conventional. My dad started me with the Penn's and from time to time with out the level winder...let's just say, I stuck with the level winder's  hhppy I personally love the ambassador reels. Goods luck! I'm excited for you and your son. clp Make sure to post lots of photos especially with his first fish!  TT^ I can't wait to see the smile on his face!  ;D

Spinning is easiest with the light line and lures.

Got him out on Mother's Day with T.  Hit a spot my mom used to take me when I was a kid.

No fish the first time(didn't see anyone catch anything nor any fish in the shallows) but did see they had stocked it with some trout recently.  Will give it another go at some other local ponds soon enough.

Started with his spincast.  Can cast a little himself and reels in the spinner too.  Held it right too  TT^
