I'm giving serious consideration.......
« on: February 28, 2014, 04:56:31 PM »
To buying a freshwater license for the first time in several years just to get out fishing in April for some trout....The winter cabin fever and lack of windows to get down to the ocean for a day out are killin' me.... rgmn   >:(  I think I have a freshwater rod somewhere buried in the racks of all the salt gear.. ::)

Go for it.   I always get one but never seem to use it.  I have Lake Lefferts across the street from my house. I also purchase and use my NY state freshwater license for a lake George and Ontario.  t^

I wish we had the fresh water fishery like Lake Ontario, Finger lakes or Lake George. I grew up on lake Ontario catching Browns and Lake Trout and perch as a kid, salmon in the creeks during the spawn. We use to camp in Lake George for many years, great, deep lake for many species. Canada was a nice trip too for the muskie, walleye, pike, pickerel etc...I'm in PA, a couple of stocked lakes nearby but most good fishing is a distance away....may just try for some trout, fun to catch, good to eat...

I been contemplating the same, the little guy has been asking to go fishing and I know we can catch sunnies
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

I see to fish the Delaware years ago, keep meaning to try for the Stripers, had luck with some fun bass fishing off the jet ski near the banks and lilly pad beds. Let me know if you're heading out some time. Try to get out in between working on getting the boat ready for the slip in April, if we see an April.... hhppy

Do it !!      When time permits you can juggle your fishing time from the salty deep to the shallow sweets.  Nothing like a back woods lake,6 lb.test, fighting trout, and smoking a cigar.
Some times its a good idea to put a few "cold ones" on the banks (in the water) to keep them chilled till Miller Time.  t^
Enjoy

Having turned 70 last year I don't need to buy a license, so I just grab a rod head for Monksville or Greenwood Lake and shore fish. I still perfer to go to the Highlands for a day with Capt. Ron or over to Keansburg and fish the pier, but when I can't i go freshwater.
Good things come to those who bait

Builds and repairs rods if needed

When you cannot salt water fish (weather , less time) a lot of times I switch to freshwater. (Kayak , stream or lakeside bank) Most freshwater is just only a few minutes away.
