Some dredging work to be done...
« on: March 09, 2014, 10:16:07 AM »
Let's see where this goes. As I see it, it is in the introduction process now and still need to be approved. I haven't found anything to show it's progress. Perhaps someone else knows more about it. It will have a huge impact on many, and it will be for the good a lot of boaters.  t^ clp clp

I know it will help me in the Shark River. Says they will dredge the back channel. Something that needed to be done years ago. Even with my 25' with outboard I have hit bottom at low tide right smack in the middle of the channel.

My first trip around the back way at shark river inlet was eye opening. I went with a friend who was new to boating. Showing him the channels, how everything is marked and how to proceed we bumped bottom three times, dead center the channel.
That was the last time we went around the back way.

That has been needed for a while. Wonder when Seth will be able to dredge the Marina? That has really filled in since the storm.

A great list of locations there. Shark and Manasquan Rivers as well as a lot of other locations in Ocean County. I hope it gets approved. Then the only problem I see is where to put the dredged materials. In the past, that is what has held up other dredging projects. Nobody wants the stuff in their town.
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><

Oyster creek has been dredged. If I am not mistaken Double Creek is a state problem.

I heard there is a possibility that Oyster Creek is going to be dredged again to make it a straight channel with all the turns eliminated. Didn't see anything firm on that info though.  5hrug

My understanding is they were suppose to make it straighter.  Rebuilding north jetting too.
