Another awareness/preparedness week from the National Weather Service. This week is Tsunami Preparedness Week. This risk only pertains to those immediately along the coast. Most think of tsunamis as a West Coast and Pacific Ocean only events, however the threat of a tsunami is possible along the Gulf and Eastern Seaboard as well. In the event of a large earthquake, tsunamis are possible.

East Coast Tsunamis
Yeah, I'm in the group of people that only thought tsunamis could happen on the west coast. Where are the danger areas? The entire east coast? Is there any evidence of a major tsunami hitting the east coast in the last 200 years or so? It's bad enough with hurricanes, I never thought about earthquakes and tsunamis.
