Can't beat $1.75 delivered for new plugs.

Unless something has changed in the last 10 years. Champion was know to be the worst plug to use for anything.

Anyone else ever hear this?

Nope and everything I read says to use the OEM (Champion) branded plug in a Johnson engine.

The used to list the QL82YC as the plug for my engine, but then changed and standardized all 40hp and up loopers to the QL78YC, so I am hoping I could run the hotter plug in my engine now

Rod, Ford used to use Auto-lite plugs.  When the plugs wouldn't fire, the classic statement for the plugs was...they auto-lite, but they don't.   ;D

TT^ Ah the good old days.  I had a 69 goat it would run with only Champions in her everything else would burn the daylights out of them.

Hey Mike If you have a local NAPA around you they can get them also, thats where I get mine, can't remember what I payed, but I know it was at least half of what I payed at the marine store. I don't know if anyone else heard this but it makes sense. Change your plugs in the spring once you burn off all the fogging oil. I got the tip from a marine mechanic t^

The mechanic at my marina uses only NGK plugs when he works on them.  I've always used NGK as well, since that's what my local auto store has.  Should I use Champion for the new 90 Johnson?

I have been told and have read that someother plugs (like NKG) run abit hotter then their champion counterparts and if the engine came with champions, stick with them.

Their have been reports of problems running non champions and then switching back to champions and problem went away.

I run NKG iridiums in my car tho.

I will just get the ql78yc and use those instead. Cheap enough anyway.

I LOVE Champion plugs!   They generate a ton of business for me which is always good for the wallet.  Misfires, fouling, cracked insulators..... >:D

All kidding aside, use what the motor calls
for.  I truly do hate Champs, its a personal thing, AC always.
