** Time to Wake Up Mr. Fish **
« on: April 13, 2014, 11:15:55 AM »
grtn Well, today is just as good as any to get Mr. Fish off the side & in the front of the house to work on him. Can't fish if I'm not in the water! I'm no doubt nervous :-\ but hopefully things will go ok. I'll let you know how I make out.
P.S First of many questions I am sure; all I have to do is put the ears on and start him up correct? That's what I usually do but again, I am a lil nervous.  thud Better to be sure and safe then sorry.

charge battery, add some fresh gas(not much) and start its gonna smoke bad for a little while until the fogger runs out
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Okay. Glad you are starting today
Make sure you vent all hatches, open and air out its been a long winter and you want to dismiss any fumes that might be in the bilges.
Make sure your batteries are charged and ready to turn the motor over.Make sure the ear muffs are on the intake vents so you allow a good amount of water(keep water from hose at full force) to be pumped into the motor. You will see some smoke and burn off upon starting the motor as result of winterizing oils.Make sure water is coming out of the exhaust either the center of the prop and/or "Pee hole" or both.
its a great day...  Capt AJ

Even though you're not right here per say, ya'll are.  :-* I'll let you know how I make out; so far got it to the front and had to take a trip for a wing nut to secure the leads onto battery; whoooooo knew there were that many choices thud but I think I got the right size; I got two different packages sooooooo.. :P Why you ask; I dropped one and couldn't find it let alone get the other one off to take with me to be sure. I LOVE BOATIN!!!!  thud

Trish, ditch the wing nuts and use lock washers and nuts that you can tighten with a wrench. Wing nuts have a tendency to loosen over time.

Make sure you are pumping plenty of water. Run it on the muffs only as long as you have to to make sure everything is firing properly. And do not run it at high RPMs.

You're teasing me right??  :-\

Boat needs a serious tune up; I didn't like the way it sounded when I turned it over; was nice it started up though. With that the bottom needs to be painted which I soooooooo hope the guy will still do for me! Do you have any idea how long it took for me to get the green paint out of my hair let alone off my skin the last time I did it!  thud  Thanks for the input guys... I'll take it all into consideration before I officially launch. Have a great 2014! See ya'll on the water!  slt

if you keep him on a trailer why paint the bottom at all? waste of money. bottom paint is for boats kept in a slip.

I recently treated myself to a slip in Sea Warren. It's AMAZING! The people there, the owner, everything about it is so great! clp You're right though; I did trailer it all the time. But even then, I still painted the bottom so it would look good  ;D
