Yeah, I was not trying to get anything hoping yes but I was there for a picture taking project that is due on the 21st of this month.  One rule of the park you have to have fishing equipment for every one over the age of 12.

It is amazing how many clams shells were sashed up after this last storm.  I don't know if anything was around but if this was later in the season throwing clams would be the ticket of the say.

But you are right it was a fantastic day to be out there.  a little windy but thats OK.

I was out yesterday at North beach, sandy hook. Wind was wicked and we could not keep any bait on the ground with the nasty current. Used clams but nothing doing. Just needed to get the pole in the water though

I hear you Ryan,  I will be out a lot this year and I hope to be able to hit the grand slam we'll see.  I have a good feeling about this season.   I can't wait to be into fish.  And warmer weather.

I tried a little today with bucktails and AVA 17's.  did not have time to soak clams even though all the signs pointed to them being the right choice.

Grand slam?  What's that?  I'll take a stab and say striper, blue, fluke and... weakfish?  All from the surf?

I'm feeling you guys on the cabin fever.  I just got started with this and I have been itching to get out since the last time I went!    It's this bad and I haven't even landed my first fish on the beach yet!  Can't imagine what it'll be like once I'm catching stuff.  TT^

You just about got it nailed Ash.  Last summer we has a contest and there were a number of fish that made up a list and any 4 out of the list was a Grand Slam.  The only fish I did not get off the surf last year was the weakfish.

New year new attempt.

Hi All,

Well I tried to make something happen today but the wind was to strong.  I packed up the fly rod and some net streamers I tied last week and headed out to the back part of IBSP.  By lot A21.  The wind was to strong so I gave up, the gusts I found out were at 30 mph.

Thats OK the water is still too cold for catching anything substantial back there.

I am going to try later in the week or on Sat morning, we'll see.

Hi All,

Well it looks like Saturday morning will be a no go.  I just checked the radar and the mix is getting close.  They say it should start raining about 3 Am and be on and off till 2 in the afternoon.  Not good... :'(

Oh well that is what Spring is all about.

Maybe next week will be the charm.  I will try to get out at least twice and see what happens.

Had the day off yesterday so I figured I'd give it a try.  Started at SH worked my way down to Point Pleasant. SKUNK!!
It was windy.

I'm headed to Aruba for the week so I hope to post some pics.  I'll be taking a Fly Fishing tour one day and renting a charter the next. Maybe some Wahoo or Marlin??  grtn

Will the water is getting up there and the fish are starting to cooperate.  The majority are shorts but thats ok, for right now.  It seems that the spot is IBSP as not many reports coming in from other beaches.  I was out on Friday with my new conventional rig and there was not a soul out on the beach.

GUYS YOU GOT TO BE OUT THERE TO CATCH'EM!!!

Still bait of choice is the clam.  The fresher the better.

The surf has been changing almost on a regular basis this spring with the snotty weather that we have been having.  My best advise would be to get out and do some scouting.  The rips at Ortley Beach have changed at least 3 times this year alone.

As an example the first groin in Lavellatte now has a predominate bar in front of it and that bar extends south for almost 100 yards before the first rip occurs.  Moving further south there is another just to the north of the Golden Gull.

All I can say is do your homework, it will pay off big time.

Happy Catching

P{aul

PS Read "Conditions as IBSP" for further info.  Good Luck... slt
