A wet week with Cautious water conditions most of the week. The week starts off dry, today with a mix of sun and clouds with clouds increasing into Monday Night. Monday Night will bring chances of rain showers with clouds and rain moving in for Tuesday and Wednesday and lingering into Thursday before beginning to clear out for Thursday Night. Friday looks dry and sunny again. Rain will be a potential issue this week with forecasts calling for more than 5 inches in parts of the state. This rain could cause flooding: flash, localized and river and stream flooding. Be aware of this issue this week. High temperatures will range from the 50’s to 70’s for highs and 40’s and 50’s for lows. Water conditions look good for Monday, deteriorating late Monday. Winds will increase to 30 knots causing ocean waters to build 7-10 feet prompting Cautious to Hazardous conditions through late Thursday with Small Craft Advisories. Winds will subside later on Thursday, allowing seas to recover for Friday. Surf and beach conditions will echo the water conditions with good conditions on Monday and Friday, but conditions deteriorate into Monday Night with Cautious conditions on Tuesday through Friday in some places with rough surf and wave heights peaking at 3-7+ feet. Water temperatures are steady in the mid 40’s to low to mid 50’s in places. UV Index will be High at 6-7/15 with Moderate to Low conditions at 0-3/15 on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A large low pressure system in the Central US will slowly move towards the region on Monday bringing periods of rain to the area Monday Night through Thursday. The low then moves into Canada on Thursday Night sending the cold front offshore. This will result in cooler, but drier weather for Friday. Another upper level trough will cross the region this weekend.

The weekend looks dry at this point, but the upper level low could bring some rain chances Saturday. Saturday will be cloudy and Sunday sunnier. High temperatures will be in the 50’s and 60’s with 40’s and 50’s for lows. Water, surf and beach conditions should be ok, provided waters recover by the weekend. Winds will be moderate to gusty, so it should allow the ocean to settle by Saturday,  but the potential for gustier winds could increase water conditions for both days.

Have a great week and thanks for reading!

The Outlook is all updated. Sorry for the delay! The data from the models that BuoyWeather is reading is not 100% accurate this week, especially for today in some locations. It has seas 10+ feet for today. Today, conditions will be moderate winds with seas 2-3 feet, increasing tonight.

Have a great week! Anyone with family and friends across Central and Southern parts of the US...make sure they are aware of the Severe Weather threats!

Re: Flood Watch & Coastal Flood Advisories
« Reply #2 on: April 28, 2014, 04:02:20 PM »
Flood Watches have been issued for Salem, Gloucester, Camden, Burlington, Sussex, Warren, Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Mercer, & Monmouth Counties due to the potential of 2-4+ inches of rain.

All coastal and tidal counties also have Coastal Flood Advisories for Minor Coastal Flooding associated with above normal tides and anticipated rain. Tides are anticipated to be 1-2 feet above normal.

Here is river and stream flooding forecasts and real time monitoring as well at the Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center.
