Hello fishermen
« on: October 18, 2007, 02:01:40 PM »
Thank you for inviting me to your site.

I would like to find out the area within my residence. Where I could go fish for salt water species.

I am in middlesex county, and type of bait/rod etc that I have to use.

Also if there any is pre-posted information, please show me the way. ;D

thanks

Welcome Aboard roscopico,

To keep it simple at first if you are fishing off the shore, pier or jetty you are not far from good fishing.  You have the Keyport pier to start with an excellent place and it is pretty close to you.  Google Keyport and you will see the pier on the satellite version.

As far as tackle I would use a 7'6" rod with anywhere from 12# mono th 30# braided line.  Oddly enough the 12# mono and the 30# braid have the same diameter so if you can afford braid go for it or at least half mono half braid.

Bait right now can be anything because it is all moving up there.  Your best bet if to go to a good bait and tackle shop and ask questions for that day.  Most will give you decent suggestions.

I hope this helps and if not don't hesitate to ask away again.

Happy Catching

Paul

Is there a Dock? Also what the address? I have a 16 footer boat.

Any special conditions fishing in salt water, regulations?

Welcome aboard.  Rugman just posted a meeting day at Sandy Hook State Park for a surf fishing gathering.  If you joined them, I am sure someone there will take you under their wing and show you some things to get you started.  There's nothing like learning from people who have done it before.  Beats the crap out of trying to learn on your own.
