While this Memorial Day Weekend will not be perfect, it won’t be a wash either. Late Spring/Early Summer weather patterns are becoming evident the last week or so. Friday into Friday Night will continue with scattered chances of showers and even a thunderstorm possible. By Saturday many areas will see clouds beginning to break and a mix of sun entering. Saturday will have isolated to scattered chances of showers and thunderstorms all day into Saturday Night. These chances will be low, statewide, but I would expect to see some rain and thunderstorms pop-up throughout the day. Some of these storms could be stronger and of course, over water will bring much higher winds and seas than in the marine forecasts. The bulk of the threat of rain and storms will move out by Sunday. All areas could see isolated or scattered showers and thunderstorms early Sunday, but these chances are even lower than for Saturday. The remainder of Sunday and Monday look to be dry with a mix of sun and clouds, with more sun than clouds. Temperatures will be in the 70’s to 80’s inland with 60’s to 70’s along the coast and on the water. Overnight lows will only be in the 50’s and 60’s making humidity moderate and noticeable. Water conditions could be Cautious early on Saturday with borderline SCA winds around 15 knots and gusts possible to 20 knots. Winds should settle by afternoon to late day on Saturday and remain good for the rest of the weekend. Offshore waters could see Cautious conditions return on Monday again, with borderline SCA winds. Overall, water conditions don’t look bad and even offshore will have borderline conditions with 4 foot seas at peak. However remember to keep an eye on any storms on Friday Night through Sunday Morning. Surf and beach conditions will be good with some gusty winds possible early on Saturday. Water temperatures are warming into the upper 50’s and into the 60’s for rivers and bays, with surf in the upper 50’s, inshore ocean waters in the mid to upper 50’s, even some 60’s and offshore waters in the mid 50’s. Warmer currents are slowly moving into offshore waters as seen this week on satellite. UV Index will be Moderate to High bordering on Very High this weekend.
A few upper level disturbances will pass over the area on Friday and Saturday. High pressure will then move in for Sunday and Monday. A cold front will then move in later on Tuesday and into Wednesday.
Next week will start with some rain and thunderstorm chances on Tuesday, clearing out for the rest of the week. The end of the week could bring some rain chances again. Temperatures will remain in the 70’s and 80’s with 50’s and 60’s overnight. Humidity will be moderate to high this week; very much Summer-like weather. Water, surf and beach conditions look good on Tuesday, Cautious to Hazardous on Wednesday, then improving into Thursday and Friday.
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend and let’s not forget the real reason for the holiday! Thanks for reading. Be safe!!
