Ocean Pout protected species ?

anyone have any info on if the ocean pout is a protected species they taste almost as good as ling but i keep hearing they are protected any help on this topic would be appreciated

so there is a ban on them thats bull the last charter i was on i saw about 100 come up off one wreck for crying out loud
