Decided to hit the Sea Hawk up for their 4PM afternoon fluke trip with the family.
Wind was a bit more than we expected but Jason managed a short fluke on the first drift with help from mommy.
Soon he seemed like he needed a recharge so took a quick nap. Theresa appeared to think that was a good idea and joined him.
I caught some shorts dragging bait and the wind eventually dropped out a bit so went to bouncing some bucktails. Couple more shorts and then hooked one that felt better. Quickly slipped a nice 4# flattie into the net.
T and Jason soon came back to the rail and the drift slowed down some more so went with a lighter bucktail outfit. Couple more shorts and told T to take the rod I was using as she was dragging bait still. Casts out and starts working the jig. Sets the hook on a fiesty fish that put a good bend in the rod. She made quick work of it and soon a nice fish comes up and into the net. Pushed the scale down to just about 7#.
I managed another keeper to bring our total to three and T's fish was good enough for the pool.
JZ seemed to enjoy himself and got to see a shark (dogfish) and feed the seagulls some bait. All in all I'd say our first family fluke trip went well.
