Have trolled eel rigs in the rips at night with some success, most of the time it is setting up or drifting t^

for settign up, i'm assuming you mean anchor up,, how you pick location to do that? structure mainly? do ya try to get a slick or anything going? and guess it would be the same for drifting locations to.

trying to figure out how get more fishing time in with it getting dark earlier every night now.

i was never a fan of trolling, live lining will be better, but I don't see why trolling at night will not work.
Fish out of Toms River NJ.
Call Nick for open boat, 973-417-5756, or on Channel 68.

trolling for stripers in the dark?

Some of my first trips to the Sandy Hook Rips  were night trips where we trolled plugs through the trips. I think we evened used a big clouser fly as a teaser ahead of the plug.

Don't see many pulling plugs anymore..day or night.

Me too. Wire lines, homemade Jerry C plugs (Dr. Deaths), and BMF'in bass almost every night when they're there... Ahhhh good times and fond memories, thanks Jerry, Lou, & Gene.

I fish with Jerry C. all the time (assuming we're talking about one of the former captains of the Freddy-C) In fact, I'll probably be fishing with him this coming weekend.

He's a super nice guy, a great fisherman and one of the most knowledgeable striperman on the water today.
