or put your killie pot in over night

As Al said, Killie traps will catch eels.  They work better if you use an extension piece in the middle to lengthen the trap.  Without the extension piece eels will back out of the hole if they're nose touches the opposite side of the trap.  Bait shops sell the extension pieces too.

Do ya think that will work in fresh water river like the Manasquan?

Maybe.  Remember, the minimum size on eels in freshwater is 6" and the possession limit is 35.  However, if you transport them to saltwater they will need to be 9" and the limit is 25.

Good luck measuring those slimy suckers.  :P ;D

hhppy yes that would be interesting. Using cotton gloves may work, but Ill be damned if Ill try measuring them at the river. Limit 35 & 6" but 25 & 9" if transporting to salt water :headscra: ??? 5hrug

Just different regs for fresh and salt.  Even if you catch them in freshwater, if you're using them in saltwater a C.O. won't know where you caught them.
