Boat detailing??
« on: November 01, 2007, 01:30:34 PM »
Anyone do it, know soemone who does it, etc?

Not sure if i can convince the admiral to give me a hand this spring, and I have lots to do with installing trim tabs, fuel flow meter, etc, so I MAY break down and pay someone to wash, compound, wax hull and top.
Getting some quotes together to see if I can swing it.

More aggressive the price, the better :)

Mike, I can help you out in the spring.  I have a 3800 psi power washer, and a power buffer... all we have to get is the type of wax you want on the hull.

I may take you up on that bro.
I actually have collonite cleaner and collonite wax I never used this season. I do want to comopund out the hull and probably topsides too, but that power washer and buffer would help tremendously.

May have to spend a weekend on ours. 1 day we bang out my boat, next day we bang out yours :)

3800 PSI power washer.   :o  Watch you don't blow that boat right off the trailer.   TT^

I believe you are probably looking at anywhere from $10-$20 a foot for labor.  All parts/supplies would be extra.

A thirty pack to a friend/helper would be much cheaper.   TT^

Mboy, I don't even do my own boat.  I have a friend who does mine.  I get him a gift cert for his fav diner.  t^

He is usually busy doing other boats but find the time to squeeze mine in.  Paints the bottom too!

Thanks.I am letting (paying) for them to paint this year. It was powerwashed when it was pulled (bottom), but the top could use a good shot or 2 :)

Mboy, did they give you a price for the bottom paint?  Probably cost about $200 just for labor.  Another $125 for the paint.  Cheaper to do yourself and you can do just as good a job, if not better.

is the bottom of your boat already marked for the bottom paint, or do they have to line it for you..

Mike, after the marina lined it the first time, I paint my own.  Its very easy and doesn't take that long.  The paint is very thin and goes a long way.  It will only cost you the price of paint and a roller..  There is enough man power with all the new friends we made this season to help each other out.  If I can do the bottom of mine, I can do the bottom of yours...  don't waste the money

It is already lined.

Don't you have to sand it and stuff 1st?
I already paid them for this year, so maybe next season I will I won't pay them.

no, no sand blast, only after a few seasons to get the old paint off and then the new paint on.  Since its lined, all it is, is the cost of paint. Super easy..  The marina wacks you for labor...
