Deep Sea Fishing Fort Lauderdale Happy Day Today
Deep Sea Fishing Fort Lauderdale Happy Day Today
Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

David Prior from Vermont and friend, Dan Sullivan, chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some big game deep sea spor
On the way out, we stopped to purchase live Goggles Eyes from T & T Bait. Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water, 1-8 miles from shore at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale. We started off with two plainers down, one with a blue and pink sea witch in front of a double hook Bonito strip and the other with a blue and silver sea witch in front of a double hook Bonito strip. For surface baits we went with four Ballyhoos. As I trolled the reefs ranging from 80 ft. of water out to 200 ft., the two anglers took turns reeling in a total of eight Kingfish, ranging from 6 to 13 lbs.

It was now time to put up the kites so I set up two kites with two live Goggle Eyes from each kite in 210 ft. of water. Immediately, we got attacked by Sharks catching a total of three Black Tip Sharks. From there I relocated in shallower water in 140 ft. of water, hopefully, to get away from the Sharks. We repeated the process with the kites and waited for the black shadow to appear. Immediately a 15 lb. Kingfish skyrocketed 5 ft. out of the water and cut the bait in half on the right short kite. As we reset, we sat and waited, while David told me stories of ice fishing in Vermont with fingers numb from the extreme cold – what a difference!!!! – now sitting in sunny Fort Lauderdale with the sun gleaming down on us. The clock kept ticking and with 10 minutes to go on the trip, the black shadow appeared on the left short. Very lethargically he grabbed the bait, walked off, stopped, walked off, stopped – it seemed like an eternity before I could yell, “pull the trigger”. Finally, the fish started moving away – hooked up!!!! – Sailfish tail-walking on the water, showing his extreme power with non-stop action. David’s face showed intensity and concentration as he was reeling the Sailfish in. Twenty minutes later Ian, our mate, brought the Sailfish into the boat for picture taking and was released to fight again.

With smiles on everyone’s faces, the anglers retired into the a/c salon for a relaxing ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. After docking the boat, I was greeted by David with a hug; it was a very rewarding moment for me to know that I helped to fulfill a man’s bucket list wish. Thanks again David!!!
