A very unsettled and cold pattern ahead for the remainder of the week with water conditions back to hazardous for the end of the week. As the Winter Storm moves out, cold air remains in place and chances of snow showers are possible for Wednesday. Accumulations of less than an inch for the entire state are possible with a max of 2-2.5 inches possible. BY Wednesday Evening another blast of Arctic air will move in. Thursday and Friday will be dry and some sun making an appearance, but also very windy. Snow chances are possible Friday Night into Saturday. It could be a split of snow/mix again somewhere in the state. Highs for Wednesday will be in the 20’s and 30’s with lows into the single digits and teens. Thursday and Friday will see highs only into the teens with lows in the single digits and negatives. Wind chills will be a problem as well, with gusty winds and wind chills below zero. Any melted snow or residual water will refreeze overnight, making for icy surfaces and roads! Water conditions look good for Wednesday Day, now, as winds will be minimal and seas normal. However, Wednesday Night hazardous conditions will return and remain for Thursday and Friday with winds to 40 knots and seas to 5-10 feet. Small Craft Advisories, as well as Gale Warnings are probable for both of these days. Surf conditions will be good tomorrow and then cautious to hazardous with winds to 40 knots and surf 3-6 feet. Water temperatures have dropped a few degrees with most waters in the 20’s and 30’s with offshore waters in the low 40’s. UV Index will be Low to Moderate as the sun is getting more prominent in the sky. Spring is just a little more than a month away…here’s to hoping for warmer weather and fairer seas!
The area of low pressure for the Winter Storm was moving quickly out to sea. Weak high pressure will build into the region from the west and southwest for Tuesday Night into Wednesday. Another Arctic Cold front will approach from the northwest and west and pass through the region on Wednesday Evening. Cold high pressure will follow for Thursday and Friday. The center of the high pressure should pass off the coast on Friday Night. Low pressure approaching from the west and southwest is forecast to affect the weather over the weekend. The low is expected to pull a cold front through the region on Sunday Night with high pressure following for the early part of next week.
The weekend will have chances of snow both days possibly from two separate systems; a Friday/Saturday and a Sunday/Monday potential for wintry precipitation. Temperatures will fluctuate between 20’s to 40’s with lows in the 20’s. It should warm up above freezing both days of the weekend for most locations, allowing a quick thaw before another potential arctic blast. Water, surf and beach conditions look cautious to hazardous. Early Saturday may be good, however by the afternoon winds will pickup and conditions will deteriorate for the remainder of the weekend. Winds will gust well over 25 knots with seas pushing 5-10 feet.
