A mixed week with some chances of rain and average temperatures with a mix of water conditions as well, as a coastal low moves through the adjacent coastal waters late in the week. Monday will start with patchy frost in the morning and chances of scattered showers across the state for the entire day. Highs will only be in the 50’s and low 60’s with overnight lows back into the 40’s. Tuesday and Wednesday will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will be in the 60’s and 70’s with 50’s and 60’s along the coast. Overnight lows will only be back into the 40’s. Thursday will be more clouds with chances of scattered showers again. Friday will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds again. Coastal and adjacent ocean waters will have more clouds than inland as a low pressure system moves out to sea. Highs will be in the 50’s and 60’s with overnight lows in the 40’s. Water conditions will be cautious on Monday with Small Craft Advisories through at least the afternoon. Conditions should improve later in the day and into the overnight. Tuesday Morning could see some cautious conditions as well, then improve for the rest of the day through Thursday Evening before deteriorating. Tuesday and Wednesday could see some seas approaching 3 feet, which could make for some borderline conditions for some and midshore to offshore waters could be borderline to cautious, as well. Thursday Night will see increasing winds and seas becoming hazardous on Friday. Winds will gust to gale force with seas to 12 feet midshore to offshore as the system moves out to sea off the coast. Surf conditions will be good all week. Monday and Tuesday could see some gustier winds to 20+ knots or so, but surf will remain around 1-3 feet on average. The rest of the week will be good, until later on Thursday as conditions deteriorate and become cautious with winds to 30 knots possible. Surf heights will increase to 5-8 feet on average with the possibility for some larger waves over 8 feet or more. Water temperatures are steady in the 40’s and 50’s, including surf temperatures still in the upper 40’s as well as offshore waters. Southern offshore waters are beginning to increase into the 50’s already, as the warm Gulf Stream currents begin moving north, slowly. UV Index will range from Moderate to High at 3-6/15.
A large and complex low pressure system over the western North Atlantic will continue to move slowly out to sea during the early and middle parts of the week. High pressure will build into the region gradually from the northwest and west. Another area of low pressure will pass off the North Carolina Coast on Thursday before moving out to sea. High pressure will then build into the region from the west on Friday before passing off the coast during the coming weekend.
The weekend looks dry, with highs in the 60’s and 70’s and overnight lows in the 40’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will start off cautious on Saturday improving into Sunday, which will have good conditions.
Have a great week and thanks for reading!
