Freezing Cold Nights
« on: November 08, 2007, 07:19:58 PM »
It's looking like we're going to go below freezing tonight in Central NJ.  bngh

Does anyone prepare their boat (if it's still in the water) for sub-freezing temperatures, even if it's just for a few hours during the night?

Turbo,

A few hours of just below freezing tempts won't hurt.....but if we have extended periods of real cold thats a differant story.....only thing I do at this time of year while I am still in is to put anti-freeze in my fresh water tank..

If you have an outboard, keep the lower unit in the water.  The water won't be cold enough to freeze and any water in the water jackets of the outboard will pretty much have the same temp as the water, as opposed to the air temp, which may be below freezing.
