Overall not a bad 4th of July Weekend. Weather will be workable and water conditions borderline. Friday will start the weekend for many (by the looks of the GSP today) with patchy fog in the morning and a mix of sun and clouds, with clouds increasing into Friday Night. There could be some scattered showers or thunderstorms on Friday with greater chances into Friday Night. Those chances will carry over into Saturday and Saturday Night as well, as 4th of July could see some scattered to even widely scattered showers and thunderstorms. Sunday looks to clear out with more sun than clouds. Highs will not get anywhere near what was forecast at the beginning of the week, so we will be spared the excessive heat. Temperatures will be average in the 70’s to mid 80’s with overnight lows in the 60’s and low 70’s with some 50’s across northern areas. Humidity will be moderate overall. Water conditions are going to be very mixed and dependent on location, day and time. Overall, borderline to cautious conditions are possible. However, breaking it down better, rivers and bays look good with winds tops to 15 knots for the next 3 days. Inshore waters will slowly see an increase in winds on Friday to 15 knots or so with seas building to 3-4 feet. Winds will increase with gusts to 20 knots and seas staying around 3-4 feet, hence the borderline to cautious conditions. However, winds could definitely stay around the 15 knot mark and seas closer to 3 feet than 4 feet. Just know that winds and seas could build if you find decent conditions initially. With conditions so borderline, either way, it really is a weekend to check out those conditions and look for live updates. Also, some boats may be prevented by certain conditions, while not affecting others, so check with the captain before making any decisions. The weekend is certainly not a wash or blow out, so enjoy and be safe! Midshore to offshore will be borderline to cautious as well with seas pushing 6 feet. Winds will improve for Sunday and seas could respond fairly quickly as winds change from predominantly eastern to more of a southwest to western direction. Surf and beach conditions will be mainly good, however surf could be high at times averaging 2-4 feet with some 3-5 foot waves likely. Moderate to High Risk of Rip Currents will be in effect, so be careful in and around the water on the beaches. Make sure to swim in Guarded areas only and follow all instructions of the local Beach Patrols. Water temperatures are steady in the 60’s to even 80’s. UV Index will be Moderate to Very High at 3-9/15.
Weak high pressure will build to the north on Thursday Night into Friday as another wave of low pressure moves along a stalled front to the south. Another area of high pressure will then move into the region through the holiday weekend. A cold front will cross the area by Wednesday.
Next week will start off dry with showers and thunderstorm chances increasing for Wednesday and the rest of the week. Highs will be in the 70’s and 80’s with overnight lows in the 60’s and 70’s. Water, surf and beach conditions
The Atlantic Tropics are still quiet.
Have a great 4th of July Weekend! Be safe and thanks for reading!!
