Overall, a great weekend for both weather and water conditions. The weekend will be dry with the exception of later Sunday even into Sunday Night. High pressure will control the area most of the weekend, keeping sunny skies and dry conditions. As the high pressure moves eastward, it will be followed by unsettled weather, so later Sunday into Sunday Night could see some chances of thunderstorms. These look to come late right now with greater chances across Northern NJ. This is very dependent on how quickly or slowly high pressure moves east. Highs will be in the 80’s with mid to upper 80’s inland and low 80’s at the shore. Overnight lows will be in the 60’s and 70’s with humid air moving in for late Sunday bringing those overnight lows into the low to even mid 70’s. Water conditions will be mostly good. Saturday could start off with some gusty winds to 15 knots, but will settle and seas will be 1-2 feet on average. Sunday will see winds increase to 20 knots with seas increasing 2-4 feet in the afternoon to evening hours. Winds will increase in southern locations first moving north, mainly. So, conditions will be borderline from the afternoon for some locations and night for others. Overall, the models are depicting a good weekend for water conditions for all locations. Some areas could see better conditions than others. Surf and beach conditions will be good with a Low Risk of Rip Currents. A low risk DOES NOT mean NO risk, however! Water temperatures are in the 70’s to upper 80’s with surf temperatures in the low 70’s. UV Index will be Very High at 8-9/15.

High pressure will build in on Friday and gradually move eastward through the weekend. On Monday, a warm front will move northward into the area before stalling through early next week. Several low pressure systems will affect the region through midweek.

Next week will have periods of showers and thunderstorms most of the week. The end of the week will have the lowest chances right now. This looks to be more of a scattered to widely scattered type weather or periods of thunderstorms move through a larger area of the state at times. The warm front will bring hot and humid air back into the state with highs in the mid to upper 80’s inland and low 80’s at the shore with overnight lows in the 60’s and 70’s. Humidity will be moderate to mostly high all week. Water, surf and beach conditions will be good for Monday, cautious for Tuesday and Wednesday as winds could push 30 knots with seas to 10 feet, then borderline for Thursday and Friday.

The Atlantic Tropics are still quiet.

Have a great weekend and thanks for reading!
